Cement Sculpture with a view to mosaic

Aims:

The purpose of this course is to take an idea or a drawing and create and tile a 3D sculpture that you can then mosaic.

Pre-reqisite

Students must have completed Foundation Mosaic.

Topics

• Development of ideas.
• Theo process from idea to 3D sculpture.
• Suitable materials.
• Wire Cutting and shaping techniques.
• Cementing skills, mixes and shaping.

Duration

3 hours per week for 10 weeks

Cost: $300.00 or $30.00 per week plus materials.

Materials: All available at Studio; Welded wire mix, rendering mix, glue, grout.

Materials to bring

Armature stage

• Roll of tie wire and netting clips
• Leather gloves
• Wire cutters.

Rendering stage

• Rubber gloves

Tiling stage

• Tile pinchers.
• 2 old butter knives.
• Margarine/ice cream containers.
• Safety glasses.
